Programs designed for every part of our communities. Youth Tech Camps, Senior Computer Labs and Financial Literacy courses
California in general but Los Angeles specifically are huge markets for more than a few industries. Among them, the tech industry is one of the most thriving yet African Americans only make up 3% of the workforce and even a smaller number when compared to other industries.
By implementing a strategy that addresses the needs in the workplace, the development and availability of venture capital and
investment funds for Black entrepreneurs all while cultivating a community to embrace technological changes that augment routine tasks and improve the quality of their lives.
So we have established three initiatives to address our concerns for equitable place in technology that include workforce development, digital equity and digital literacy.
We are creating opportunities and paths with Tech firms throughout the state of California to increase the amount of African American tech executives and engineers to succeed at the corporate level.
Helping entrepreneurs get their business models and ventures tight enough to attract venture capital and investors is one of the primary concerns for this initiative. The development of the proper business structure, business model and pitch will be available during our Innovation Week sessions and Accelerate BlackLA Cohort.
Our digital literacy programs are collaborations with community based organizations and local STEM programs. We have launched a Youth Tech Camp that is focused on improving math efficiency rates and includes robotic, drone and solar projects along with field trips to science centers. Our Senior Computer Training allows seniors to engage practical skills for everyday life tasks that help them navigate the computer, internet, healthcare, public services and more.
